Andrew Tate’s Religion: Muslim, Orthodox Christian, or Neither?

Andrew Tate is currently one of the most talked about people on the Internet. Why? Because he is a real character.

He is a serial entrepreneur and former professional kickboxer who always has something to say. In a way, you could say he’s like Chuck Norris because he is a walking paradox. He went viral on TikTok without even having an account of his own.

Andrew Tate has shared his views on almost everything, including religion—but there is a debate about what Tate’s religion actually is.

Tate used to be an Orthodox Christian. Now, he identifies as Muslim[1] [2] [3] [4] . However, he has also said that he is not religious and doesn’t identify with any label.

Are you confused yet? We don’t blame you. But that’s why we wrote this article—to demystify the topic of Tate’s religious beliefs. (Spoiler alert: it’s still an enigma to this day.)

Andrew Tate spends his time in “the most religious places on Earth.” Here’s why.

Tate claims to split the majority of his time between Dubai, which is predominantly Muslim, and Romania, which is very Orthodox Christian. (For context, Tate’s primary residence is in Romania.)

Andrew Tate appreciates religion because it provides structure and discipline in one’s life. In his opinion, it is a shame that so many people in the West have lost their religion.

Tate values societies that have guidelines for their inhabitants to follow. He believes that it makes people more well-behaved citizens. From his perspective, the lack of religion in the West is one of the reasons why things are so chaotic.

It’s clear that Andrew Tate has a complicated relationship with religion. He was raised Orthodox Christian, he now identifies as a Muslim, but he also claims to be non-religious.

Let’s explore more of his opinions on faith.

Andrew Tate: “So, I’m now a Christian.”

According to Tate, he respects Christians because “The Orthodox Christians will still mess you up. So, I think I’m no longer an atheist. I’m now an Orthodox Christian.”

We can’t help but wonder if this is another one of Tate’s jokes. (But TBH, we’re not sure if he’s ever joking about anything. He could just be a very indecisive man.)

“I now go to church at least twice a week,” Tate claims in the video. “I just genuinely believe it’s good for society, which means it’s good for me, so I’m now a Christian.”[7] [8]

That’s all fine and dandy. We would be happy for him, but he doesn’t stop there with the religious talk. In fact, he takes the conversation in a very opposite direction, which you will see in the next video.

Andrew Tate: “Christianity is a joke.”

In this video from @trinityrejector, we catch Andrew Tate saying, “Christianity is a joke.” Then, he says, “If I had to find God, it would have to be by Islam because how am I going to go to a Christian church when they have gay pastors and sh*t?”

Obviously, there’s a lot to unpack here. For one, it’s unclear if Tate is being serious or if he’s just trolling. But either way, it’s safe to say that he is not a fan of Christianity (anymore).

It’s also worth noting that Tate has made it clear he is not necessarily against all religions. He has said that he respects Islam for reasons that we are about to expand upon.

In the video above, Tate elaborates to say, “The Bible says no, and you’re just ignoring it!” He’s alluding to the transformation of Christianity over time to accept gay people, which he seems to be against.

Why our dear Cobratate respects Islam so much

Andrew Tate loves Islam because it is the “last religion on Earth that has gender roles sewn into it.” He believes that this gives men and women a clear sense of identity and purpose.[11]

In other words, in his opinion men can do whatever they want, and women must obey the demands of their male counterparts.

Not according to many Muslims, who argue that Islam is a religion of equality. They point to verses in the Quran that state that men and women are equal in the eyes of Allah (God)

So, which is it? Is Islam a religion that promotes gender equality or not? Unfortunately, there is no easy answer.

It depends on how you interpret the Quran and Hadith (the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad). Some people interpret the Quran and Hadith literally, while others interpret them figuratively.

As for Andrew Tate, he seems to interpret the Quran and Hadith literally—and he is not alone.

There are many Muslims who believe that men and women are not equal. They argue that the Quran and Hadith are clear on this point.

Like every religion, it all comes down to interpretation.

Why Andrew Tate said, “I might convert to Islam right now!”

Needless to say, Andrew Tate has some very controversial views on women. In this video from @andrewtristantate, our dear Cobratate praises the Muslim world for having women who cook, clean, and never cheat “because [they’ll] get stoned. She can have as many kids as you want. She obeys.”

While some might see this as a compliment (maybe?), others have interpreted it as misogynistic. Many people were quick to point out that Tate’s comments were ignorant and that he was fetishizing Muslim women.

Tate goes on to say, “You watch Western media, and you see that even Will Smith’s wife is cheating. Would you let women make their own decisions?”

He is referring to the fact that Western society is more liberal and that women have more rights. This is true, but it doesn’t mean that all Western women are cheaters. We’re willing to bet that plenty of women in Muslim countries cheat on their husbands—despite the threat of being stoned to death.

What was most surprising about this video was when Tate said, “I might convert to Islam right now! This is the most haram video I’ve ever watched. This video is haram, and she needs stoning.”

This statement led many people to wonder: Is Andrew Tate Muslim? The answer is: maybe. It’s complicated.

Andrew Tate: “Will’s a punk, man. I’m taking him to Qatar, and he’s gonna convert to Islam with me.”

You thought we were done talking about Will Smith? Think again.

In another video, Andrew Tate said that he is going to take Will Smith to Qatar and convert him to Islam. This one was posted by @cobra1tate, another Tate fan page. (Shocker!)

This might be a joke, but it’s hard to tell with Tate. He has a habit of saying things that he doesn’t necessarily believe just to get a reaction from people.

Next, Andrew Tate says, “No Muslim man would put up with this crap.” Of course, he is referring to Jada Pinkett Smith’s affair.

This is a perfect example of Tate’s double standard. He says that he would never put up with a cheating wife, but he has no problem with polygamy as long as the man is the one with multiple female partners.

Things get even wilder when Tate says, “I’m officially changing my name to Abu Andrew.” (Is it just us, or is this a tad bit racist?)

We can’t even repeat the impersonation of a Muslim woman that Tate offered at the end of the video. We can’t do it justice (because there is no justice.)

Andrew Tate: “I’m gonna find myself a nice Islamic a** wife.”

If you thought this Islam discussion couldn’t get any more vulgar, buckle up because this is the craziest rhetoric we’ve heard yet.

Tate describes how he is going to stockpile stones in case his Muslim wife gets too “fresh.”

“As soon as I catch her cheating, there’s gonna be no delays.” We’re not going to elaborate on that statement. You catch the drift.

Is Andrew Tate catering to Muslims for his own monetary gain?

We have to add some commentary in here because, at this point, we’re just as confused as you are. Thankfully, @the_based_bengali breaks things down for us.

According to this TikTok user, Andrew Tate is trying to make money off the Muslim community by making videos like the ones we shared above. He’s playing into stereotypes and using offensive language to get views.

It’s a smart way to get attention, but it’s also pretty manipulative.

It turns out that @the_based_bengali is very based, indeed. He explains that Tate doesn’t actually know anything about Islam. Instead, Tate is a very materialistic person who objectifies women.

Our bro @the_based_bengali dives even deeper and says that insecure men idolize Andrew Tate because they want a role model that they can relate to.

“This is not a man of faith. This is a man who cares about his individual gains the most,” says @the_based_bengali.

He also touches on the point that Andrew Tate has a misconceived view on Islam. He believes that Muslim men can do whatever they want, and they have absolute power over women.

We’ll let you form your own opinion on this controversial mess.

What do you think Andrew Tate’s religious beliefs are?

Of course, the answer to this question largely depends on whether you think he’s a real personality or just a troll who likes getting people’s attention. Let us know in the comments below.
